BP launched their new Thunder Horse platform

The project planned by British Petroleum was initiated earlier than they planned. It appeared to be 11 months ahead of the schedule. The platform is a new step of the company in the deep-water exploration sphere. British Petroleum called it Thunder Horse. The firm managed to save money and complete the establishment $150 million under their budget.

Thunder Horse platform is a part of the company’s strategy. The firm wants to add about 800,000 barrels of new production by 2020. Concerning the project described, it will bring 50,000 barrels. Besides, the platform uses a new system of the deep-water production. The new facilities are located 2 miles to the south from the completed Thunder Horse facilities in the Gulf.

As Richard Morrison (a BP’s president in the Mexican Gulf region) said, the completion of the project ahead of the schedule and the money they managed to save showed that deep-water operations might be done in a cost-efficient way and on the appropriate safety level. Besides, it demonstrates the efficiency of the current strategy of the company in the Gulf region.
