A rotor wheel for hydropower unit No. 1 was delivered to HPP Iovskaya of the Nivskiy Cascade in Murmansk Oblast – OAO TGK-1. Equipment was manufactured at the factory ANDRITZ Hydro GmbH (Graz, Austria). In May 2013, it passed mandatory hydraulic testing on the production site which was witnessed by OAO TGK-1 personnel. Then it was sent along the route Graz – St. Petersburg – Moscow Oblast – HPP Iovskaya (Murmansk Oblast).
New adjustable-blade rotor wheel is made from stainless steel. Seven cast blades with anti-cavitation plates lining the outer diameter are protected from impact of water flow on the hydroturbine surface. HPP Iovskaya Rehabilitation Project covers full replacement of rotor wheels for the plant’s hydropower units, regulating and excitation systems, rehabilitation of protection and automatics, and is targeted at improvement of plant operation reliability and more sustainable use of HPP reservoir.
