More about the Zohr field: Dresser Rand cooperates with deposits

Zohr is the largest gas field on the shelf of the Mediterranean Sea. The deposit is located off the coast of Egypt. It was discovered by the Italian company Eni. As indicated in the company’s press release, the field potentially contains up to 30 trillion cubic feet (850 billion cubic meters) of gas on an area of about 100 square kilometers. That amount of energy approximately corresponds to 5.5 billion barrels of oil. Eni officially announced this on Sunday August 30, 2015. At the end of January 2016, the company corrected the forecast to 453 billion.

The gas content is associated with the Miocene sediments.

The CEO of the company said that, in addition to delivery, a package of services would be provided. This package of services will include the supply of spare parts on site, as well as maintenance of machinery. The planned date for the beginning of cooperation is the beginning of 2017.
