Early November, OAO Silovye Mashiny (Russian for “power machines”) sent another batch of water power equipment to Baksanskaya HPP in Kabardino-Balkaria. The oversized load was delivered and unloaded at the installation site.
Motor vehicles and a heavy-duty crane were involved in transportation of rotor and stator of hydropower unit No. 3. Start-up of the power unit is scheduled for December 2011. By February 2012, Silovye Mashiny Group will fabricate and deliver equipment for two more hydropower units of Baksanskaya HPP.
Let us remind you that the HPP was down due to a series of explosions committed by a group of terrorists in 2010. The Baksanskaya HPP integrated refurbishment program covers restoration of structures, reconstruction of diversion canal, pressure piping, HPP building, replacement of main water power, electrical, and also auxiliary equipment. It is planned to complete all the activities in June 2012.
