How do they build bridges in China with a unique mega machine – SLJ900/32 bridge? The bridge-laying machine weighs 580 tons and reaches a length of almost 92 meters – its new project is Kirow bridge builder. This unique machine was made in China as a part of the project to build a railway from Beijing to Inner Mongolia.
The total length of the tracks should be about 17 thousand kilometers, and naturally, there are mountains and canyons on the way of construction. At the same time, the road is designed for high-speed trains, which will travel at a speed from 250 to 350 km/h.
Therefore, the paths should have as few joints as possible, and bridges shall have sufficiently long sections.
Chinese Railways bridge-laying machine SLJ900 32 was designed for the construction of bridges by the 11th design bureau of China. It was built by the Hanjiang Heavy Industries company. The figure 900 in the title indicates the maximum weight in tons of the bridge segment that this monster is able to lay. It weighs considerably less – “only” 580 tons.
Characteristics
In length, SLJ900/32 machine reaches 91.8 meters, has width of 7.4 meters and is 9 meters in height. Due to such dimensions, it can move independently during moving through the tunnels and roads. Thanks to this interesting solution of Chinese engineers, the speed and efficiency of the construction of bridges increases significantly.
China is known today not only as a “world factory”, but also as a world builder of roads and railways. China is a country that is rather closed for prying eyes of the rest of the world but one of the secrets of the short terms of construction by the Chinese people is the monstrous size of the giant machine SLJ900/32. It builds bridges in the PRC, which reduces the time for the construction of roads and bridges.
Perspectives of use
The name of the built machine is not particularly philosophical. It was given the name SLJ900/32. The dimensions of the Chinese giant are impressive.
China now has modern technologies in the construction of highways. It is known that representatives of the People’s Republic of China are entering the markets of Europe and Asia with investment projects in this area. In Russia, it is planned to build a high-speed railroad ‘Moscow-Kazan’ with the participation of China.
Although modern China builds quickly, it is sometimes dangerous for people. The poor quality of road construction poses a threat to traffic safety in the future. However, this may not yet be known to foreign customers. In China, such amazing machines-giants of monstrous dimensions are used to reduce the construction time.
